Why This Model Works

This model strengthens mental health care within general practice by giving GPs rapid access to specialist psychiatric advisory input—without transferring care or adding unnecessary wait times. It ensures patients receive timely, evidence-based support while allowing GPs to retain continuity, autonomy, and oversight of their own clinical decisions.

Improves Access

Reduces delays for patients by enabling GPs to access psychiatric guidance quickly.

Supports Safe Prescribing

Provides structured guidance for ADHD medication, titration, and comorbidity management.

Keeps Care with the GP

The GP retains full clinical responsibility and continuity of care for the patient.

Reduces Unnecessary Referrals

Only complex or high-risk patients require full psychiatric assessment.
